About the project:
The works comprise of the demolition to a former coach depot and yard situated between Valentia Place and Gresham Road. To demolish an existing workshop, covered parking area, 1 two-storey office, and a portable accommodation.
The buildings are portal frame constructed of steel frame with mainly brick & mortar in fills or either steel cladded.
The buildings are to be demolished to above concrete slab only leaving all the slab and
foundations undisturbed.
Project Challenges:
Party wall to a row of rear property shops required persistent communication with various landlords in order to achieve access to assist with the temporary works propping. Restrictions for site traffic movement were imposed due to the local rail track and brick via duct that was within the site footprint. Rail restrictions were applied via means of fixed secure exclusion zones and maintained through out the works.
